`Discussion on Bangabandhu’ held at IUB

To observe the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day 2017, the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized a discussion session on August 23, 2017 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.
Renowned Historian and Professor of History, Dhaka University, Professor Syed Anwer Hossain attended the program as the Chief Guest and spoke on the versatile life and contributions of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Illustrating the visionary role, courage and strong character of Bangabandhu, Prof Hossain underscored that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman not only crafted the dream of independence among all Bangladeshis, but also demonstrated future goals that the nation still needs to follow to succeed and become a prosperous country.
Professor M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB presided over the session while Dr. Mahbub Alam, Dean, Scholl of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, IUB, delivered the welcome speech. Among others, Dr. G M Shahidul Alam, Head, Department of Media and Communication, IUB, also shared memories that he possesses with Bangabandu’s family.
Deans and Heads of different Schools and Departments, senior members of the faculty and administration and a large number of students of IUB attended the program.
