IUB Celebrates International Women’s Day

International Women's Day 2016 was celebrated by the Department of English, SLASS, IUB. A day long program of readings and songs was organized on Thursday, 08 March 2016. A variety of texts written by women, for women and about women were presented by faculty, members of the IUB administration and students. The idea was to raise awareness of the plethora of literature by women that is often overshadowed. Writer Dilruba Z. Ara Speaks at IUB

The Department of English, IUB organized a talk entitled ‘Heredity and Other Structures of Continuity’ by Dilruba Z. Ara, a poet and a fiction writer, on Thursday, 25 February 2016. Educated in Bangladesh and Sweden, Dilruba Z. Ara is the author of internationally acclaimed novel A List of Offences. Dilruba’s stories ‒ published in many international anthologies ‒ are studied at universities across the world. She has translated Selected Stories of Shahed Ali into English and some of Sweden’s Pippi Longstocking stories into Bangla.
