Bengali Beauty is the FIRST feature film from Bangladesh to have been selected for streaming by Amazon Prime. It is the ONLY Bangla language feature film to have been commercially screened in BOTH the United States and United Kingdom (in multiple theaters for TWO straight weeks) and the ONLY Bangla language feature film to have been commercially screened in CHINA (in over 700 screens, for SEVEN straight weeks).
It is the highest grossing Bangla language feature film from anywhere.
8 IUBians were involved: FOUR acting with 2 Media faculties where our very own Dr. GM Shahidul Alam played the role of Muzaqqir; Ms. Naila Azad Nupur, one Media student Kazi Asif as an actor, Sarah Alam Environment Major as an actor; while FOUR were in production, 3 of them Media Majors (Rafee Tamjid, Associate Producer, Sohan Ahmed Omi, Assistant Director, Baizid Khan, Sound recordist) and Iftekhar Ift, Associate Producer whose Business Major was backed up by a Media Minor.
The film will be available on Amazon from September 4, 2020.
