We are located in the heart of Dhaka city, a beautiful and affordable city campus located near the International airport. As the capital city, Dhakais home to many law firms, courts and government agencies, which create extensive learning opportunities for our students. Dhakacombines the excitement of many higher learning institutions with thriving arts and cultural centers, multicultural restaurants, beautiful scenic areas, and a culture of environmental sustainability. Our students span a variety of backgrounds, ages, interests, racial and cultural heritages, nationalities, and life experiences. Student population includes local and international with a reasonable ratio from outside Bangladesh, with students coming from more than 20 different countries. Students hail from a range of private and public institutions from across Dhakaand the all over the country. Academics in the Department of Law, IUB are nationally recognized coming from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. They have been academics in world-class universities, public defenders and prosecutors, corporate lawyers and litigators, and have worked for large law firms, government agencies, and nonprofit institutions. Our faculty is strongly committed to excellence in teaching, combining sophisticated theoretical and analytical perspectives with intense practical training. We structure the first semester so that students can study in a small section with the same group, which enables them to develop close and enduring relationships with that instructor, as well as with fellow law students. The Law Department is known for its strong experiential learning opportunities and skills training. Extensive clinical programs give students the opportunity to develop their lawyering skills while helping clients, under the supervision of our remarkable clinical faculty. We offer opportunities in a wide variety of contexts and practice areas, including International Law, criminal law, business and commercial law, Banking and Financial Law, and entrepreneurship. We also offer a range of simulation courses, which develop legal skills and judgment and prepare our graduates to be practice-ready when they complete their law Department training. Throughout their time at the Law Department, students are provided with the opportunity to interact with practicing lawyers, senior judges and legal consultants. This introduction to what is possible with a IUBLaw degree starts early and helps students find the career that is their best fit in their respective jurisdiction.
