Dr. Hassan Faruk Al Imran joined as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Law, Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) in May 2022. Dr. Hassan awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Law (PhD in Law) from Western Sydney University, Australia.  His PhD thesis focuses on the Rohingya boat refugee and international law. Dr. Hassan completed his Bachelor of Law (LL.B. with Honours) from University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, and obtained Master of Laws (LL.M. in International Law) from University of the West of England, Bristol, United Kingdom. He also obtained the Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies (PGDL) from the same university and was stand for the Called to Bar in UK. Dr. Hassan is a Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn (UK) and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

 

Dr.  Hassan Al Imran has extensive teaching and research experiences. Since 2006 he has been serving as a Faculty of Law in a number of universities. In 2006 He joined in the Department of Law & Justice of Southeast University, later in 2013 he moved to Uttara University as Assistant Professor and Head of Department of Law.  His research articles published in the high ranking academic journals that included Liverpool Law Review, International Journal on Minority and Group Rights, Journal of Maritime Law & Commerce. Dr. Hassan is also a law critic and book reviewer; his book reviews published in Yearbook of International Environmental Law, Asian Journal of International Law. He regularly expresses his opinions on legal issues in the newspapers’ law pages. Dr. Hassan is the founder editor of Uttara University Law Journal. On several occasions he appeared as an expert on Rohingya crisis on international news media (CNA (Channel News Asia) Singapore).

Public International Law, Refugee Law, Refuges at Sea, Immigration and Citizenship Law, Human Rights, Constitutional Law, Labor Law and Comparative Law are the main research areas of Dr. Hassan Al Imran.
