“Legend of the Loom” documentary screened at IUB

The School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized screening of documentary film “Legend of the Loom” on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at its own campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.
Mr. Saiful Islam, a researcher and CEO of Drik, working with Drik-Bengal Muslin was the Key Speaker at the session. The documentary film was based on a research project revealing the golden era of Muslin and the facts behind the extinction of it and revival of Muslin in Bangladesh. In his speech, Mr. Islam mentioned that the objective of this research was an attempt of rebuilding the identity of Muslin as an unique Bangladeshi brand.
Prof. M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB and Dr. Mahbub Alam, Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS) also spoke on this occasion.
Following the screening of an outstanding documentary, floor was open for question-answer session where both students and faculty members participated enthusiastically.
Deans, heads of the departments, members of the faculty and management and a large number of students were present in the event.
