Mr.Haroonuzzaman completed his Bachelor of Arts (BA) with Honours in English Language and Literature from the University of Dhaka (1969-72). The examination, however, was held in 1974. Also he did his Masters of Arts (MA) in English Language and Literature and American Literature from the University of Dhaka (1972-1973). The examination, however, was held in 1975. He has been teaching in the Department of English at IUB from August, 1999. His areas of interest include Romantic and Victorian poets, Literary theory, Literature in translation (classics), and Drama. Since 2005 he has published several books including a 5-book Baul Series, and articles and short stories in the major English newspapers including The Daily Star and Independent and Depthnews, Manila. Also, he published a research paper entitled paper: "Using Literature in EFL/ESL Reading Classrooms: Why It Matters Most, in The Journal of Social Studies, a refereed journal, in August, 2007. Currently (Since Summer 2012) he is a member of a team of researchers on a project entitled Preservation of Endangered Languages of Bangladesh, a project funded by IUB. This primary and extensive primary research involves field trips to the Northern districts especially, Joypurhat, Bogra, Rajshahi.
