Conference on 4th industrial revolution held at IUB

The 21st century is witnessing fourth wave of industrial revolution. In the IR 4.0, the core concern is to create autonomous decision making of cyber physical system via cloud technology. Such scientific involvements are the indicators of modernity, development and progress. Guests and speakers highlighted all this in a daylong Conference held at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the university campus in Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka.
The Conference titled “Social Science in the 21st Century: Survival Strategy for Human Kind Addressing IR 4.0” was organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS) at IUB. Mr. A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB were present in the event and delivered speech on the occasion. Mr. Javed Hosein, Member, BOT, IUB also present during the inaugural session.
Mr. Ifty Islam, CEO, Asian Tigers made his presentation on “Challenges and Opportunities from the Fourth Industrial Revolution’’. He mentioned that Artificial Intelligence might replace human labor with automated services; however, it has been a debate of this 21st century is that how creativity endeavors, social interaction and physical dexterity and mobility can be replaced with data information technology. Mr. Khandker Md. Iftekhar Haider, Treasurer & Acting Vice Chancellor and Dr. Imtiaz A. Hussain, Dean (Acting), SLASS, IUB also spoke on the occasion.
Throughout the day, 4 working and an extremely fruitful plenary session were held to clinch the objectives of the Conference. Highly credible papers were presented while country’s renowned educationist, scholars, policymakers, civil society leaders, media experts and professional specialists took part in presenting papers and discussing on various topics & issues. Along with external resource persons, IUB faculties were also present in the event; they presented papers, chaired the sessions and took part in various discussions.
The day-long program ended in the evening. Prof. Dr. Farruk Ahmad from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IUB Chaired the Closing Session. Prof. Dr. Tasneem Siddiqui, Dhaka University; Lailufar Yasmin, Associate Prof. Dhaka University and Mahfuza Liza, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Intelligence Analysis), DMP was present as panel discussant.
Members from the faculty and administration, students and distinguished guests witnessed the daylong conference enthusiastically.
